The Best Consulting Arborists in Melbourne, Sydney, Gold Coast and Brisbane
Established in Melbourne in 2014, TMC Reports quickly became one of Victoria’s most trusted providers of arborist reports, tree risk assessments, and consulting arborist services. We now proudly deliver professional tree reports and arboricultural advice across Sydney, Brisbane, and the Gold Coast, offering expert tree consultancy throughout the East Coast of Australia.
Our team of 10 qualified consulting arborists are certified at AQF Level 5 through to Level 8, bringing decades of experience in tree inspections, hazard tree assessments, vegetation management plans, and development-related arboricultural reporting. Whether you need a tree protection plan, a tree removal permit, or a construction impact assessment, we have the knowledge and credentials to assist.
TMC Reports has prepared over 15,000 development application tree reports since 2014, helping property owners, builders, town planners, landscape architects, and developers navigate complex council tree regulations. We specialise in balancing tree preservation with urban development, ensuring compliance with AS 4970 (Protection of Trees on Development Sites) and achieving strong outcomes for both vegetation and project viability.
All tree risk assessments are carried out using industry best-practice methodologies, including Quantified Tree Risk Assessment (QTRA) and Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ). We provide clear, evidence-based tree hazard reports, including assessments of tree structure, tree health, and public safety risks, whether for residential, commercial, or government projects.
If you're applying for a tree pruning permit, require a tree safety audit, or need a tree removal assessment to satisfy council requirements, our expert reports are tailored to meet local government expectations. We work across a variety of report types, including:
- Tree management plans
- Arboricultural impact assessments (AIA)
- Root investigation reports
- Tree retention strategies
- Site-specific tree evaluations
At TMC Reports, we go beyond box-ticking. Every tree consultancy project we undertake receives personalised attention. We collaborate closely with clients to develop practical arboricultural solutions that support council approval, efficient land use, and long-term tree health.
To give you peace of mind, we offer a money-back guarantee on all our arborist reports — if your report is rejected due to non-compliance, we’ll refund you in full.

Can I remove a tree?
Every Council has its own rules about which trees require a permit to prune or remove. Just because a permit is required doesn’t mean removal won’t be allowed — it simply means an assessment is needed.
• If the tree is large, healthy, and structurally sound, Council may not approve its removal.
• If the tree is small, unhealthy, or structurally compromised, approval is more likely.
You’re welcome to send us a photo of the tree and your address, and we’ll give you an informal opinion. For a more accurate assessment, we offer a verbal consultation u

Do I need an arborist report?
You’ll likely need an arborist report if:
• The Council has requested one for development purposes, or
• The tree requires a permit for pruning or removal.
If you're unsure or simply want advice about tree health or safety, a verbal consultation may be all you need. Should you choose to move forward with a full report afterward, we’ll deduct the consultation fee from the report cost.
We also offer free phone advice from AQF Level 5 to Level 8 consulting arborists — feel free to contact us to discuss your situation.

Can I build next to a tree?
Absolutely!
We specialise in helping clients build within close proximity to trees, and have prepared over 12,000 development arborist reports to support building applications.
We follow the Australian Standard AS4970-2009 – Protection of Trees on Development Sites, which generally allows building within 10% of a tree’s protection zone. However, if the project arborist can demonstrate that the tree will remain viable, greater encroachment may be permitted.
This is where we excel — we know every practical method to build as close as possible to a tree while ensuring it continues to thrive.
